This is the Call for Abstracts for the 65th Annual Meeting of the New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Inc.
Abstract Submission Deadline - 11:59PM - January 15, 2025
GENERAL GUIDELINES & INFORMATION
PAPER SUBMISSION ELIGIBILITY
Anyone in the six New England States working in plastic surgery is welcome to submit an abstract. The Founders of the Society wanted this annual meeting “to be for New England plastic surgeons by New England plastic surgeons.”
For all competitions: You may submit more than one abstract to any competition (Joseph E. Murray, MD Resident Award or Founders' Award); however, the Program Committee will only consider the highest scoring abstract for the competition. The next highest-scoring abstract may be accepted into the General Program at the Program Committee's discretion.
JOSEPH E. MURRAY, MD RESIDENT AWARD PAPERS
To be eligible for this competition, you must be a resident, medical student, or fellow (clinical or research) who has not completed a plastic surgery residency and is in good standing at an approved New England plastic surgery training program during 2024 – 2025. A Murray Award paper must be a Long Paper (7 minutes) and must be in one of the six categories listed below.
The presenter must be the first author if the paper is eventually published in any format. You MUST include suffixes and degrees, for all authors listed on the abstract, (e.g., MD, PhD, Jr., Sr., etc.). The Murray Award Competition will consist of 10 presentations, with each resident presenting only 1 paper in the competition.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE TO SENIOR AUTHORS: To support our rigorous scientific program, Senior Authors are expected to be present during paper presentation to facilitate and answer high level questions of the research. Papers may be barred from presentation if a Senior Author is not in attendance at the meeting. No EXCEPTIONS.
FOUNDERS’ AWARD COMPETITION
To be eligible for this competition, you must be an Active Member of the N.E.S.P.R.S. and have paid all dues. A Founders’ Award paper must be a Long Paper (7 minutes) and must be in one of the six categories listed below. You may submit more than one abstract to the competition; however, the Program Committee will select the highest-scoring abstract for the competition. The next highest-scoring abstract will be accepted into the General Program. Each Active Member may present only 1 paper in the competition.
STEPHEN AND HOLLY PAP NEW TECHNOLOGY AWARD
The Stephen and Holly Pap New Technology Award will be given, from time to time, to the paper that most shows how NEW medical technology contributed directly to patient care and, in Dr. Pap’s words, “made it possible to work more efficiently and creatively, as it pertains to database management, to office personnel networking, to image photography documentation, to surgical procedures, to patient monitoring and physical diagnosis, or more.” The Stephen and Holly Pap New Technology Award can apply to any Long Paper (7 minutes) that, after review by the Program Chair and his/her Program Committee, is determined to have fulfilled the criteria established by Dr. Pap.
The recipient of The Stephen and Holly Pap New Technology Award will receive a monetary award, funded by Hands Across The World, which was founded by Dr. Stephen A. Pap (1963 – 2013) in 2003.
